A question about : Least busy time and day in Aldi

I guess most Aldi stores are quite packed due to their success. Is there any optimum day & time when it's least busy?

Instead of having a separate counter to deal with issues, Aldi do it at the main checkout which holds up the entire queue. Perhaps its deliberate to dissuade you from reclaiming?

Best answers:

  • More likely to be because they're a discounter and that's how they keep prices low. If you want dedicated customer service, try one of the big 4 instead.
Try 8 am when they first open. I walk the dog past then and its certainly quieter than the afternoon.
  • I have 2 Aldi's in my town. I always shop between 8pm and 10pm.
At 8pm there is usually about 30-40 customers.
After 9pm the staff out number the customers.
And there is no clear spaces on the shelf's, except for maybe the 'special 6'.
Both shops are on busy roads which are main link roads where I live.
  • It is also quite quiet late at night, after 8 pm
  • I'd also recommend after 8pm weekdays.
  • Obviously the quietest times are when the schools are in Monday to Friday 8 am to around 3:30pm... Same for all supermarkets. One of the benefits of working shift patterns is being able to shop in these hours midweek.
  • We find shopping on a Tuesday/Wednesday morning between 8 am - 8.30 am to be the quietest time to shop in Aldi and the shelves are also full. If you have a problem, at this time of day, it can also be sorted out without much inconvenience to other shoppers.
  • After 8pm is the quietest time I find, plus the shelves have usually been restocked by then.
  • The only problem with 8am is that you get stuck in the rush-hour getting there. I'm surprised everyone doesn't pop in there on the way to work, to get a snack for lunch, but 8pm seems OK. I'll give it a try on Monday or Tuesday.
  • Just started going at 8-8.30 on a Saturday morning. Aisles are busier with lots of pallets but staff often outnumber customers. Have walked through the checkout (not literally!) the last couple of times.
  • Each store will most likely vary from 1 region to another, maybe avoid the weekend as people wont be working then and avoid the 2 special offer days. As for the time maybe mid day but both the time and day could vary, pick a day and time to go and see what's best
  • We were so pleased to find that ours is dead on a Sat evening and don't mind there are some gaps on the shelves at that time as it's so quiet, but last night the whole store had been stripped bare so we ended up in Asda. A sales assistant said it had been mad all day and they didn't have the staff in to cope with it.
  • I always find that 11.30am on a Monday is a good time.
9am is no good, as the parents drop the kids to school and then do the shopping, but by 11.30am they have gone home and its much quieter
  • Always check the parking signs, some are only 1 hour, that included getting in, parking up, paying, packing the car and leaving the car park.
Takes some doing, this is how they make the money back in my opnion, with car park charge notices on thos who can not make to the stopwatch shopathon.
  • The time limit for the car park is 90 min in mine, and packed up to the brim nearly all the time, so a 60 min time would be great for me, since it only takes me 30 min to get what I need.
Incidentally my Aldi is open till 10pm weekdays.
  • Ho hum someone has got lost on the way to the parking forum and doesn't realise that as Aldi's are smaller and generally have a 90 min limit (every one I've been to has 90 but obviously there may be exceptions nationwide) this isn't the issue it is with the big four which take longer to get around. Stopwatch shopathon indeed - Have you actually ever shopped at Aldi ???? You'd have to be very confused to go over 90 mins -or maybe stopped halfway round for a lunch break

  • Gosh just been, as you all said, it's deserted in the evenings, only a few vehicles in the car park and no-one on the till to start with! Unfortunately, some of the aisles weren't stocked, particularly fruit, but its a great time for rebating stuff! Lot's of Christmas things being discounted as you might expect.
