I am claiming housing benefit and on jobseekers my son is leaving college and has a part time job earning Ј55 a week If he claims jobseekers as he is of course looking for a full time job will they make a deduction to my housing benefit?

First so sorry for long thread. I have never claimed any benefit before and have lots of questions so have put as much info as possible into this!!

I am struggling to budget for my maternity leave that starts 31st Decemeber 2012. I am trying to figure how long I can afford to have off work you see.
I have opted for work benefits that run 1st Jan-31st December 2013 that will reduce my salary through salary sacrifice.

Hi all,

I've been looking over the internet for the answer to my question but can't find anything so hoping somebody on MSE may be able to help.

I've just entered into a salary sacrifice scheme at work and the deductions will start at the end of this month, my question is will my HB and TC be assessed based on my salary before or after the SS? The deduction will happen before tax & NI if that makes any difference.

Hi,

I am self employed on a low income, my children are over 20. I currently live in rented councl property and was wonderng what help I could get to get by on my low income?

I work about 16 hours a week roughly, and earn around Ј400-Ј500 month which is not enough to cover the rent etc.

Do I qualify for tax credits even though my children are not young anymore?

My neighbour is in receipt of LHA and entitled to 9 months' transitional protection. The same is due to expire in Sep 2012. My question is will my LHA entitlement revert to the 1 bedroom rate when he becomes 35, 4 months after that?

I am 21, working full time, studying part time and I live with my Mum, it is just me and her.
We live in a council house, she does not work because of long term sickness and she is on income support and other benefits. Before I started working she was entitled to 100% housing benefit and the rent was paid for by the government.

I was claiming job seekers allowance back in 2007, I didn't claim for a few weeks but continued to receive housing benefit, (I was living in a residential place where the key workers paid it automatically) I then left the place I was living so the housing benefit payments would have been cancelled.

I owed literally a few weeks payments worth of benefits.
