• I'd agree-whilst holidayextras CAN have some fab offers they usually sell-out fast! Try searching on the web with the names of small towns nearby-a search in google such as 'bed & breakfast + parking in...'.
  That's the best way!
  Sometimes-especially if you book in advance-it can be cheaper to go by train (if flight times tie up)-taht way you can have the odd drink on the flight (!)

• Have you thought about Hotel+parking? Often this can work out cheaper or the same price as parking on it's own - and you get to start your holiday a bit earlier and no stress about getting to the airport in time.
  We did this last year, got into a hotel with an indoor swimming pool, so the kids were happy!
  I did a search for a late August date from Heathrow on www.holidayextras.co.uk and prices start from Ј82 for a double room including 15 days parking - you can usually pay a small extra for additional days.
• Last year I booked a hotel with parking near Heathrow through www.holidayextras.co.uk
  The total cost of the hotel (2 family rooms!) with parking actually worked out only about Ј10 more than parking alone was going to cost us
  The one thing we did get stung on was the cost of the taxi to the airport, as this wasn't included, the hopper bus service didn't start running until later in the morning. Some hotels include the cost of a taxi, if not it's worth checking taxi prices with the hotel before booking.

• Hi .. sorry to nose in.. but the post by Addy mentions the cost of the Taxi.. which is steep by Heathrow...
  Can I recommend Station Taxis.. don't have the full number .. I book them via work.. starts 01753....
  they are based Near heathrow.. but outside the M25.. so the hotel should have their number..
  its a lot cheaper than using a Black Cab. or a heathrow based firm.. last time from Colnbrook.. to T4 cost about Ј12.. versus double from a black cab..

  This company is a fifteen minute drive from the airport with free transfers to and from the airport.

  I used them last month before a holiday to Menorca. The cost for 8 days parking was only Ј29.00. The car park is virtually on site being only 5 minutes away. There is a direct minibus service to take you and collect you from the terminal.
  Would certainly use them again in the future. Saves about Ј17.00 from parking in the long term car park which I've done for years.

• check out premier lodge, they have 3 lodges near Gatwick and offer 7 nights or 14 nights free parking when you stay 1 or 2 nights with them. Not sure if the offer applies to the special weekend rate of Ј25 a room though, check out their website.

  i'm flying from gatwick in sept. i booked a cheap deal with travelodge Ј25 a room. they have these offers every now and again. worth a try . ithink maybe you can get cheap parking aswell.
• I am a bit cheeky re parking and use the facilities of the local residential town
  Get the number of a local taxi firm to Stanstead airport or one that is based in Bishops Stortford (largest town nearby)

  Drive to either Bishops Stortford or one of the small villages near by and find a nice quiet residential street without any parking restrictions. There are loads in Bishop Stortford !!
  Figure out the address you are at and order your taxi.
  You will be able to park there for free (as long as you have tax and nothing is wrong with your car) and the taxi ride will be bound to be cheaper than parking at Stanstead.
  Keep the taxi number and use the same comapny to collect you. Normally airport taxi's are charged an additional cost by the airport to pick up customers. This is passed onto you.
  I'm sure this will save you money, but compare costs first and check the costs of the taxi. It may well annoy the local resident where your car is parked, but you are quite within your rights to park anywhere you want.
• There are 2 car parks at STN and I think both have min stay of 7 days when prebooking, otherwise it's cheaper to not prebook for a short duration like yours.

• We leave our car at a small car park, run by a bloke from his own home about 7 minutes away from Stansted. He has a secure high-fenced lock-up area and transfers to and from the terminals are included in the price, which is Ј5 a day.

• Ј75 for 2 weeks parking near an airport isn't that expensive at all really. Find a street in surrounding areas and get a taxi is your next best bet.

  you pick up a driver at their base (5 mins from terminals) who takes you to the airport in your own car, then takes it away and parks it.
  On your return you ring from customs and they bring your car back to the airport you then drop the chaufeur back at the car park on the way to the motorway.
  this service cost Ј36.90 for a week in September compared to Ј53 (inc 10% disc at BCP)
  They do say that if they are very busy a minibus may be used for the return but for Ј2.50 a day they do some extras and guarantee a chaufeur.
  I had this recommended to me and will be using it for the first time next month.
  Not really cheaper but does avoid the hassle of a bus transfer to the airport.
