A question about : Getting back to work

Hi all

I have a question I need a little advice on and I thought this would be a great place to ask.

I am currently on Incapacity benefit and DLA (Low rate mobility & middle rate care) for mental health reasons. I have been wondering a lot lately if maybe I could go back to some form of work, and was recently offered some part-time work approx 15 hours a week.

My question is how will this affect my benefits? I don't want to mess them up at all, just to find I am still not capable and have to start from scratch ( i find the form filling and scrutiny very stressful).

Thanks for your advice in advance title=You

  • Hi `furnace58`,
I'm afraid that I don't know the answer to this, but I hope that somebody can offer some advice on this soon.
Meanwhile, welcome to the MSE forum !!
I hope you find it useful.
  • Hi furnace58,
I have moved your thread to Benefits & Tax Credits as you might get more replies there.
    Iffy_Wallet suggested this - thanks!
  • Hi `furnace58`,
Sorry that nobody has got back to you yet. I'm afraid that I don't know too much about the topic. I do know that they look favourably for JSA on anybody working just under 16 hours a week, but am not too sure about the area you are talking of.
Perhaps these links may give you a few tips and hints:
Disability Benefits Helpline - for Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance
    Incapacity Benefit
'Permitted Work' - working while claiming Incapacity Benefit
Disability Living Allowance - your circumstances
Disability Living Allowance to be replaced by Personal Independence Payment - in 2013, so I believe.
    I hope that helps.
