A question about : Forgot service number

Basically when I moved house I lost my service number and discharge papers. It was several years ago and now I need both is there anyway to get access to them? I doubt if I called or went to to the base anyone would recognize me.

Best answers:

  • they don't need to recognise you, they have records and can look up your name. Call your regiment's admin office. If they don't have old records available on the spot they will know where to send you next.
It would be advisable for you to jot down your chronological service career first - start and end dates, ranks, postings, bases etc.
  • I don't think I could ever forget my number. It was so drummed in to my brain that I think it is permanently etched there.
  • I can still remember my husbands number 22years after he left service, but I can't remember my mobile phone no.
  • Try ringing JPAC?
  • I don't know because i never forget my number.
  • Phone, email or write JPAC. Your old base will probably not have any records anymore.
  • The first thing that was drilled into me was my service number... How on earth do you forget that? It's like forgetting your name?!
  • Can't see how you can forget your number.the first time I said O instead of Zero, well let's say,I Never Said that Again.?
  • It was seven years ago and I am not good with numbers seriously people need to give it a rest. Anyway called JPAC and got it sorted.
