A question about : Food and drinks in olympic park

Does anyone know if we will be able to take our own drinks and food into Olympic park? Wonder if bottled water will not be allowed To be brought in and you have to purchase inside for ЈЈЈ ?

Best answers:

  • Cant post links but if you go to the London 2012 website and look under spectators..then visiting...then safety and security that will tell you what you want to know
  • The quick answer is that you can bring a "reasonable amount" of ffod into the park.
There will be airport style security checks t the entrance so a bottle of water would not be allowed
    but
you cn take an empty bottle in to fill from drinking fountains.
Food was VERY expensive for the 'London Prepares' events so if I were you I would take a picnic, a few snacks, an empty water bottle and a fairly full wallet!
  • There will be free drinking water inside the Olympic Park - so just need to take empty water bottles.
  • Some info here:

  • There will be a McD's in the park too - I guess their prices will be slightly higher than average but cheaper than the other concessions.
  • One post says a reasonable amount and another says none at all except baby food. Has anyone been able to check this out?
Just remembered i'd read this bit on the Olympics site! The prohibited items documents says it prohibits "excessive amounts of food" so I read that as a reasonable amount is ok as long as you have got only a soft bag which isn't over the 25litre capacity that you can fit under your seat.
  • I was at the Olympic Stadium test event - Food was allowed in and so was drink (if you took a sip yourself) I have been told as a volunteer however that I am allowed to bring a drink bottle and fill it up inside - for free
  • As a volunteer, have been told that food is allowed (you have to be able to fit your bag under your seat, so no hampers etc - suggest a backpack). However, we were also told spectators can't bring in liquids (no water), but encouraged to bring empty bottles to fill on site.
  • I think I'll secrete cereal bars about my person and bring the empty plastic bottle for the water. I don't mind forking out for the odd ice-cream but it's costing enough as it is. We don't all live within a stone's throw of the East End, so I have hotel and transport bills as well. Heaven help those who are flying in from all corners of the globe!
  • In the London 2012 Ticket T&C's section 19.2.3 here it says
'The following is a non-exhaustive list of restricted items which may not be taken into a Venue (LOCOG reserves the right to amend this list, generally, or in respect of any Venue or Session): food (save for baby food), alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (save for baby milk and other valid medical reasons), liquids in containers of greater than 100ml in size, needles (save as required for valid medical reasons),....'
It does not say that you have to have a baby to take baby food in so perhaps we should stock up on Farley's Rusks?
  • Have just received email from London 2012 about visiting North Greenwich arena. It says:
"You can bring food, provided it fits in your bag, and an empty plastic water bottle to fill up inside the arena. You cannot bring in liquids over 100ml."
  • I just received the same email as flo and I am going to water polo, swimming and table tennis so 2 events at OP and one at Excel so it would appear there has been a change of heart about taking food to the games.
  • If you go to Woolwich to the Shooting competition there isn't going to be many concession stands for food so I would take your own - obviously within the guidelines of LOCOG. As it is a much smaller venue, when I went there for venue training, I think that perhaps there may be only a couple - unfortunately not able to advise what type of food selling as it is still being finished.....
  • At the London Prepares I went to a small bottle of coke cost Ј2.20 and water Ј1.80, beer 330ml was about Ј4.50 same for small wine I think the coffee was comparitively reasonable pricewise can't remember the price of sandwiches. We bought all our food at M & S in Westfield!
  • Food & drinks seem to be a total rip-off...
