Prevent toilet backflow

A question about : Prevent toilet backflow

On the odd occasion when we have had torrential rain the downstairs toilet 'gurgles' presumably as a result of excess flow through the drains. We are worried this may lead to back-flow in the toilet. I have been told there are a number of devices that can prevent back-flow from a toilet in this event. Can anyone point me to a temporary device that can be fitted to prevent back-flow? I have found a couple on the internet but they seem expensive for what they do.

insurance company not wanting to pay out!

A question about : insurance company not wanting to pay out!

Last sunday my rented flat was flooded due to a stop clock bursting on someones boiler 2 floors up. My livingroom, kitchen, hall and spare room are ruined! title=Frown as the flat above is a hillcrest flat my partner called the housing straight away and they sent a plumber out to stop the water. Called my landlord in the morning (who is not the best) he then came out about 4.30pm and started the ball rolling.

Rain water from sewer flooded my cellar

A question about : Rain water from sewer flooded my cellar

Hi

Our cellar was flooded yesterday morning with rain water after heavy rains in SE London. The Thames Water person came around a few hours later. He took a look at the rain water severs and saw that the water levels in the severs had risen before receding back. He confirmed that the rain water sewers were overwhelmed and had backed up causing the flooding of the cellar. According to him a month's rainfall fell in a night. He had similar calls in several properties on our road.
