A question about : The emotional impact of debt study

Dear Forum Administrator,

My name is Patrick O'Connor and I am a psychology undergraduate at Queen's University in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I am working as a Research Assistant on a summer scholarship and am carrying out research into the psychological effects of debt in conjunction with Dr. Aidan Feeney, who is the Director of Education at the school of psychology. The aim of the research is to help debt advisors to gain a better understanding of the emotional impact of debt upon their clients, and how emotions affect the decisions that people take in relation to their financial issues. We have already obtained data from a sample of people who have filed for an Individual Voluntary Arrangement and we are now looking to recruit a sample of people who do not have problem debts.

We are compiling a questionnaire which will ask participants to provide some details of their background, how they would feel in a number of hypothetical situations and finally ask them some questions about how they have felt recently. All information will be collected anonymously. People’s responses to the survey will only be seen by staff working on the project at Queen’s University Belfast.

I am writing to you as we would be extremely grateful if you could allow us permission to post a link to our questionnaire in the discussion forum section of your website. We are looking to recruit a large sample of people and any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated.

We look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Patrick
