Having just renewed my car insurance with elephant as they were the cheapest by far, I thought i'd pass on a few tips which reduced my premium considerably.

Tick the box to say you use another car regularly

Even if you're single add a female second driver (friend of mine aged 27 i'm 29, adding her dropped my premium by Ј45!!!!!

Tick the box to say she uses another car regularly

Enter as low an anual milage as possible (without telling porkies)

Protected no claims only cost me an extra Ј4

Ј100 voluntary xs seemed to be the best balance

• Holy sh*t! My current policy is up for renewel on the 27th, just phoned them and they want Ј477 (inc breakdown, legal cover Ј100 excess).
  Just gone onto elephant.co.uk and they've quotyed me Ј277!!!!! Ј200 saving which my present insurers have already said they can't beat.
  This cover includes:
  Ј100,00 legal cover
  Car stereo cover
  Free car when mines getting repaired
  Ј150 excess
  Thanks MSE, the biggest saving of my life on car insurance! I was paying Ј45 p/m for my insurance, now I've just paid cash thereby reducing my monthly outgoings by Ј45!!!
