A question about : Edinburgh city centre parking

Can someone please recommend where to park in Edinburgh for free or at least cheap?!

Preferably as close to the city centre as possible, but happy to walk if necessary.

Thanks

Best answers:

  • I often park on Regent Road or Regent Terrace. Not sure if they charge at the weekends.
try here for more info on parking
  • Fife!..............
  • Any time I've gone to Edinburgh, I've parked at Hermiston Park and Ride which is free, then got a bus into the City Centre (Ј1 each way). This suits me as I'm going in on business, but I guess if you are carrying loads of stuff, it might not be preferable.
  • On street free parking is available in Pilrig Street which is about half way down Leith walk and a 10-15 minute walk to Princes Street or St James Centre.
  • Theres another one also now located between little france and sheriff hall roundabout, and one at the fort kinnaird
  • Some more info here:

  • Its now £1.10 but if you use the ticket machines on Princes Street (they may be other places too) you still pay £1
Day ticket is £2.50 which allows you to travel on any buses all day.
and thanks to loadsofcash for this tip, look out for an Ikea offer on the back of bus tickets which gives you £10 off a £20 spend, apparently its orange coloured on the back.
  • Park at Cameron Toll then hop on a bus
  • Thank you for the info re- Edinburgh Park n Ride - much appreciated. Can you tell me if you can leave your car there overnight? Don't want to get clamped!
  • There's a car park on morrison st next to the conference centre that looks like it's free at the weekends. Theres a cabin where you pay during the week but it's always boarded up at the weekends. It's normally Ј8 a day i think so a nice little saver!! Alternatively, across the road on semple st there's an NCP car park, never used it so i don't know the prices but it's never full at the weekends from what I've heard
  • Car park on Morrison Street is not free at weekends It's now a Pay and Display, so don't think that the cabin is used at all now, but the car park is patrolled.....
  • On Sunday, Regent Road is free and within easy walking distance of Princes St. Anytime other than free parking Sundays and I park at Meadowbank and get the bus in for the last 10 mins of the trip.
