A question about : Direct Collections ltd

it seems i've been the latest person in a long line of people who be horrifically challenged by these thugs, why haven't they been shut down yet? bullied into giving them money like many before me.
i'm complaining and going to the financial ombudsman as they can't get away with doing this kind of thing.
Direct collections ltd i'll never forget that name, anyone else had any dealing with them or can give advice on helping me with my complaint???

Best answers:

  • What's your complaint about?
    For what account?
    Need a bit more info.
  • They approached and threatened to make me bankrupt having looked online its clear they can't do that, I've made a complaint and they are laughing it off. People like this should be allowed to take advantage. When the agent arrived a payment plan was in place and was currently in dispute. he said he didn't care and that if I didn't pay he would 'wind me up today'. In a moment of weakness I paid with everything I had. This all happened in front of customers and staff and I've been shaken up by the whole thing. Surely this can't be legal
  • All you can do is go through the FOS as you are doing.
You can report them to the OFT if they broke any of these. These should also be included in your FOS complaint:
    https://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/con...lection_g1.pdf
If they physical threaten, intimidate you or won't leave your property when asked then its a police matter
  • I've read the FOS can make them give me compensation for the they have treated me. Is that true they can make make Direct Collections ltd compensate me for the way they have treated me?
Even now as i'm complaining there response is to simply laugh at me, do they think i'm going to pay someone who laughs down the phone?
Seriously though has anyone heard of this FOS compensation thing?
  • The FOS can rule for compensation. I wouldn't expect loads though. I've had a couple of hundred quid before for inappropriate interest rate rises but might be less or more, who knows. Mine was as well as the interest refund.
  • seen more and more stuff online read one review where they threatened to kill someones dog if they didn't pay. Kinda feel i should push this as far as i can, how can stuff like that be right.
Is it the OFT or the new FCA that deals with companies like this?
  • OFT issue guidelines for debt collection. Did you read the link I posted?
  • yes but i found online that starting this year the FCA taking over from the OFT, you know anything about it?
  • Thought they were taking over from FSA. Might be wrong though.
The OFT guidance is current so best use it if you need to.
  • did you mean the compaint being sent recorded delivery?? i did do that so i know they had it and they responded laughing off what i wrote but it isn't the final response. i'm waiting for that then i can decide what to do
  • laughing on...so what did they say
  • Having told them i won't tolerate being treated this way and if things are put right i'm going to takr things to the OFT, i've found an address at the OFT to complain about Direct Collections ltd. Can anyone confirm its the right place i should be writing to?
