A question about : Crown Currency Problems PART 2

Hi folks,

This a continuation from the old Crown Currency thread which had become very long and was closed as part of normal MSE policy

Please continue the discussion on Crown in this new thread

NB. This is for discussion of Crown Currency Only

It is important that this discussion and board is kept on track to the subject of Crown Currency rather than other foreign exchange companies. Please see this announcement about TorFX. We will be forced to delete comments about other companies.

As always please keep discussions courteous

Thanks

Dan

  • Seems MSE and Private Eye have little in common!
As it is a new thread some articles about Crown that might be of interest:

  • Popcorn anyone?
    I can mention popcorn.......can I?
  • I'm just waiting for Lizzy to appear and protest, because surely she is anti gagging?
  • The new terms on MSE's email:
"We don't as a general policy investigate the solvency of companies mentioned, how likely they are to go bust, but there is a risk any company can struggle and it's rarely made public until it's too late"
This seems to clear the way for MSE to do what it has done with Crown Currency all over again and avoid the site having to act when doubts emerge about a company it has championed.
There should be a warning included at the top of all guides and comparison tables that it is based on journalism that does not consider solvency.
Also, this is not quite what Martin Lewis said to the the Treasury Select Committee:
"we cannot judge company solvency and we will not look at company solvency. But what we will do is where there is a protection anomaly, we will tell you about it."
  • Oh how the Rot has set in, what a reversal of fortune!
Colleague of mine had need to book a currency order yesterday and considered 2 companies - suggested he rang to ask who the directors and shareholders were before he decided which one. Suffice to say his decision not to go to Tor was not based on any business model! To give them credit they were actually forthcoming with the answers, but not convinced. BTW, he also lost money with CCE.
