A question about : credit file default

Hi im new to the forums so i apologise if this isn't the correct section.

Last year i applied for a monthly rolling sim card from orange. I didnt receive any confirmation email so thought nothing of it until i got contacted by a collection agency, i informed them that i have never received a sim card so no activation of the account has occured, i said for them to contact orange and to provide proof of the sim being used... nedless to say the collection agency later got back intouch and informed me that orange had pulled the debt from them after they started questioning the bill..RESULT... or so i thought until 2 months later a different collection agency gets intouch for the orange bill.

Once again i informed them of everything and low and behold another letter saying that it is closed as orange have once again pulled the debt back.

I have just been checking my credit file and have noted that a default has been marked against me for the bill although it does say settled..

What i was wondering is am I or have I got any rights to have this removed from my file as in my mind orange have admitted that they were in fault with the original problem that's why they have quashed it.

Any advice whether saying yes you are or no you are screwed would be very welcome

Best answers:

  • Too many open questions presently in my mind to be definite of anything
  • If they didn't supply the product, then any default for not paying for it is certainly unjustified.
    Complain.
Don't be fobbed off and discouraged.
  • Why, when you disputed the first alleged debt and you got the account returned to Orange, did you not get Orange to put their final resolution in writing?
  • Why would Orange file a default against you if you never agreed to pay anything to them?
  • Why do you think not only did you fail to receive a sim, fail to receive any documentation fail to receive any bills, but also fail to receive a default notice before Orange filed the default ?
  • Keep them answers coming, OP, there appears to be more questions than answers at present
  • You didn't receive a product, but Orange has still created a phantom debt and false default.
All the why? why? why? why? why? in the world doesn't change that.
You have a good reason to complain and dispute the default.
