A question about : Completesavings.co.uk/web loyalty?

Has anyone on here had an issue with them taking Ј10 a month from bank accounts?? My Mrs caught onto them last night and its been going on for the past 3 months, I searched online and it seems others are complaining about the same, We phoned them up and they couldn't tell us anything and the bank says its a recurring card payment so nothing they can do.

  • Hi falko89
Complete Savings has asked us to post a reply on its behalf. It's also worth looking at our recent news story

  • I just caught onto this too, [Text removed by MSE Forum Team] and i can't even pay the mortgage let alone pay these thieves.
I want my money back and i want it straight away [Text removed by MSE Forum Team].
  • First glance at their website FAQ says:
completesave.co.uk is the billing descriptor for the Complete Savings programme.
Complete Savings gives members 24/7 access to cash back rebates on shopping at over 800 online retailers plus much more. Members can save hundreds of pounds a year.
As a member of the programme you will see completesave.co.uk as a billing descriptor on your credit or debit card statement, which represents the monthly membership fee for Complete Savings.

So it's obvious that you have signed up to membership of their scheme at a cost of Ј10 per month. As I said above, it's in the first part of the FAQ of their website.

It would seem many, many other people have been conned:

  • It's one of those banner ads that pop up when you've bought something online. I've seen a similar pop up ad when I've boought things from the Argos Group of retailers: "congratulations on your purchase, now to get Ј10 off your next order".
You have to click the banner and enter your bank or card details to join/get the saving. It pays to read the small print with these things!!
I hope you get it sorted soon.
  • Just managed, I think, to cancel the membership that I feel I was swindled into signing up for after seven months of the company stealing Ј10 a month from my credit card.
I have nothing but contempt for the way they suckered me with a promise of a Ј10 discount voucher for a second booking of a Premier Inn room. As I was booking for a sports tour, the chance to further reduce the price paid by each child seemed great. Little did I know that, six months after the tour, money was still being creamed off my account.
Fair play to Phil on the phone who was all too aware of my feelings, he was a pro at reminding me that I would have been aware at the time of the 'T & C's' but the truth is, I was looking at a Ј10 voucher for a hotel booking. Judging by other posts I have now found, I am not alone but that still does not make me feel any better or any less angry.
If there is anything I can do to help stop this practice, I would be delighted to assist. Complete Savings are a disgrace.
  • You weren't conned, it is in the small print. I make sure I use their website if I am going to buy anything. I reckon I am all square with what they take out to what I get back in commission. The biggest drawback is the payments come in cheque form.
But if I find out I am not getting my moneys worth then I will be sure to stop the payments.
But, now I come to the point why I visited this forum, the Complete Savings website appears to have stopped working, has anyone else found this?
  • HI
I've just got my latest bank statement through.
Apparently Completesave.co.uk debited Ј10 from my account on 31 December 2012.
Although I regularly shop at a few trusted sites over the internet, I cannot recall signing up to a discount/savings' site.
I am furious that I am being charged for something, which I don't want/never wanted and may continue to be charged.
I also believe I have been "tricked" into signing up for something, which wasn't made explicit at the point of purchase.
I will be emailing their customer services tonight - followed by an email to my bank to cancel any further erroneous debits.
  • I discovered that completesave aka completescam have stolen Ј60 from my account over the last 6 months. I am absolutely furious and have just emailed them. I definitely did not knowingly sign up to anything with them and don't purchase through discounted websites - it's really concerning how they got my card details. I will go to Trades and Standards if they don't reimburse me immediately - it's fraud.
  • Just to let other know you CAN get the money back from completesave.co.uk - I have just spoken to customer services. [Text removed by MSE Forum Team] & they have got 800 online companies affiliated to them so be careful when you buy anything online. My so called 'membership' cam about when I purchased tickets through Ticketline.
  • I got all my money back from Completesavings.co.uk

  • How have they 'stolen' when they collected money approved by the people in question?
Sorry to sound insensitive but if you only discover something like that months and months later then the key learning should be to check your statements each month.
  • I have been skulking around on these boards for a while and wanted to add my two penneth worth.
I am a member of Complete Savings, still in my free trial month and received my Ј15 bonus check yesterday. I have currently got Ј3.20 saved up in cashback. I have checked what stores they are affliated to and they include Anna Scholz (which I love) and Lulu Guinness (which I would love to love but out of my price range). So for me? I think that it is worth it. You also get a chance to buy gift vouchers (Ј25 for only Ј20). However, I was fully aware what I was signing up for when I did this. If people are being fooled, then I can understand the anger towards this company.
So in short, it isn't a scam but be aware of what you are signing up for and if it works for you.......
  • I would never go so far as to call something a direct scam, but I've seen these pop up and was less than impressed. At the very least it is misleading and I feel should be reported to the correct authorities - unsure who that would be.
The way in which they market their product feels very much like they are initially masquerading as the business with whom you just completed a transaction. It was only because I look very very carefully at anything which asks me for my debit card details that I realised they are an entirely different company.
My personal belief, and I hope that MSE takes this up, is that the way to stop this is to prevent companies from selling them space to their customers - potentially under the data protection act of some kind. They market themselves based on the fact that you have just completed a transaction. This fact, that you just bought something, should be covered under data protection also, not just the details of the transaction.
I have no problem with companies offering a subscription service which provides discounted purchase of goods, it's a perfectly acceptable 'economies of scale' business model which can potentially help both consumers and suppliers, but it needs to be marketed for what it is. People need to be fully clear as to what they are buying and from who.
"Click here to claim your Ј10 voucher" after you have bought a ticket is misleading and doesn't cut it.
  • We had also mistakenly signed up for the Complete Savings scheme.
On contacting Complete Savings and filling in the required form we were able to get a full refund of 12 x Ј10 payments.
We faxed the form to their Swiss office and were refunded in three days.
  • I just noticed that somehow Complete Savings has been charging me Ј10 a month for three months since I bought a ticket from Wizz Air, when I stupidly registered for a voucher for Ј10 or Ј15 off my next flight. I'm not particularly daft, but I have no recollection of being told it was a subscription, or entering my credit card details separately to buying the ticket. When I realised I was being billed I rang their customer line (0800 389 6960) and spoke to some american-sounding woman with bad attitude who briefly tried the terms and conditions argument, tried arguing that I must've signed up separately and given my credit card details blah blah, to which I said I did not and I want my money back. And hey presto, she just immediately agreed to refund my credit card. Funny that.
