A question about : Claiming back PPI from Catalogue Companies

Hi All,

I perhaps should be posting this in the PPI forum but as it was due to this forum we became aware of it I am placing it here.

In June this year it became apparent to us that we were living beyond our means and through advice from people on here and from reading all the information available we decided to contact CCCS and see if we could stop the never ending cycle of debt and move on with our lives.

It is now October and tomorrow our fourth payment will be made to our creditors. So far they seem to be happy, they have all stopped interest and charges and we no longer get any phone calls or threatening letters.

Going into a DMP was the best thing we have done and I thank all of you for the help and advice we received at the beginning.

Anyway enough of that as it isn’t really the point of this post.

Back in August, as I was updating our budget spreadsheet, ( this has now become a ritual in our house ) I queried a charge on my OH's Isme statement, she informed me it was insurance for the parcels during delivery – I said I didn’t think it was and after further reading I realised it was a form of PPI –namely Account Cover Plus – again I asked her why she needed it when her regular balance was never over Ј200 and it seemed unnecessary to be paying it on such a small amount – she informed me she had always payed it – since the mid 80's.......

When I came home from work the next day my OH tells me she has written them a letter telling them she didn’t realise what it was, had never needed it and didn’t want it.

Within a few weeks they had replied and enclosed a form for her to complete. The form basically asks a series of questions about whether or not you had any form of lifecover, sickness cover or insurances from your employer at the time it was taken out and whether or not you knew what it was and so on.

We have now received a letter from them telling us we are entitled to a good three figure sum consisting of premiums paid and interest at roughly 26%. title=Jumping

This will be a great help to us with Christmas coming and the fact that she genuinely didn’t realise what is was and really had been miss-sold makes it all the sweeter.

So for all those people with catalogues have a look on your statements you may well be entitled to claim these payments back too and although they may not be the huge amounts that you can claim from the Banks its still worth looking into.

I hope this helps someone.

Seems most financial companies are starting to realise that ripping off consumers just isnt on anymore.
    Well done again.
