A question about : Christmas Hampers 2014

I cant find an up to date thread for hampers, so thought I would start one (please let me know if I have missed it & I will delete this thread).

If we post what hampers we are planning, and also if we see any bits whilst out and about that may be useful to others. Hopefully this will be of some help to all of us hamper-holics!

Oh, and photos of finished hampers would also be lovely!

My 2014 hampers:

Mum & step-dad-to-be: Cosy night in hamper
Bro, sil & kiddies: Large movie night hamper
DD1: Zombie hamper
DD2: Duck hamper
mil: pamper hamper
bff: gingerbread men hamper

Plus:
dd2's birthday (oct) colouring hamper
another family movie night hamper
just add ice-cream hamper
2 x mini movie night hampers
5 x pots of gold

I am off into town Wednesday, and will be on the look out for hamper goodies title=Jumping

  • I think hampers for men are a good idea, with little bottles of booze, scratch cards, underpants and socks rolled up.
Also couples hampers with food, a dvd and bottle of wine etc, maybe a cinema voucher.
I am making a cinema hamper for my mom and dad. Only small as I'm putting cinema tickets and treats in a popcorn box.
  • Hampers are such a great idea which I would love to do for the first time this year, will be watching this thread where abouts do you get the actual hampers from to put the items in & how much do they cost on average?
    Thanks in advance
  • For anyone doing movie night hampers:
Home bargs have microwave popcorn 4 for Ј1
Asda have cadbury hot choc sachets 4 for Ј1
Poundland have large plastic popcorn tubs in. They are decorated like the cinema popcorn tubs, and the perfect size to use as the actual hamper!
Matalan have some lovely lined wicker baskets, the larger ones are Ј6, but they are nice. I got one for my mums hamper, 5 popcorn tubs for my movie hampers, and everyone else will have cardboard boxes as their base, which I will cover in wrapping paper before packing.
  • Hi all. I'm doing a few bath hampers this year. Wilkos have got an offer on their fruity bubble bath, shower gel, soaps etc 3 for Ј3. All different scents. I got 6 different items for my Mum plus a white wicker bin to put it all in (Ј2.50) and a "Bath" wooden sign (Ј3). I also bought a couple of her favourite kinds of book earlier in the year when they were reduced to Ј1 each in Asda. It looks great all put together just need to wrap it in cellophane and Mum's finished.
For my SILs (15 and 18) I have done a smaller version, Wilkos have plastic baths in different colours in the above offer that I am putting theirs in.
  • Oooh like the idea of a movie night hamper.
Might do that for my daughter for her Christmas Eve present.
Previous years I have given her bath bombs and new pyjamas (as when she and I were in the bathroom for ages Christmas Eve evening hubby could get the presents down out of the loft and downstairs without her noticing), but she is getting older now, and presents have got smaller so loft not needed for hiding them, but the Christmas Eve evening treat present is now a tradition.
  • Vintage Belle - I am now following your pinterest page! Love the miniture bottles boquets, might put those on next years to do list!
  • Hi folks, I'm planning on doing two make up and toiletries hampers for my two dds (age 20 and 16). This will be their main presents, but it won't be cheap (last years worked out to be about Ђ80 each ), even though I go to the pound shop for the shampoo, cond etc. I buy them their favourite brand of fake tan (he-shi) and their favourite foundation (estee lauder and rimmel) and this pushes up the price, but everything else is bought as cheaply as possible, starting from about now and put into large wrapped shoeboxes (the ones with the lids attached, I tape the lids to stand up straight at back ifkwim). I was toying with the idea of doing two male versions for my oh and ds, but am stumped as to what will fill them apart from toiletries and shaving stuff, so will follow this thread with interest.
  • I made my SIL a pamper hamper with a make up bag filled with make up. I got it all from Cosmetic fairy. They have brand name make up for 99p and under!! Then put in the candle, fluffy socks, mini bottles of wine, chocs, bath stuff and a bath bomb xx
  • Thanks for that, but looked it up, I live in Ireland and the lowest rate they charge for shipping is 6.50, it looks a great site for UK shoppers though
  • First year doing all my family xmas hampers, so I have allocated a budget of Ј10 - Ј15 per person. As for themes I think it will be a pamper one for one sister and what I call a 'favourites' one for other sister and parents..basically whatever I find that I think they will like - a random assortment!!...dad will be a foodie one I think.
I pop into the Ј shops whenever I have chance, today I picked up a hot choc tub, a pretty reusable shopper and an unofficial autobiography book. I noticed Јland are selling boxes of twining tea also, so might get that too..
Am following this thread for ideas I picked up a small ish pink basket for one hamper. Not too sure how to wrap them cellophane then xmas wrap?

  • Morris@ns have plastic storage baskets on special offer. Various sizes, fantastic for hampers, starting at 87p, and the largest are only Ј3!
    Picked up 2 x large, 2 x medium & 4 small.
They also have chocolates tubs/tins on 2 for Ј8.
Bargain bunny - I tend to get the cellophane with christmas images on (this year I have silver snowflakes, santas and reindeers, and a nice red lace/floral design) this way i can just wrap in cellophane, add a bow, and people cant really see what is inside them. hth
  • Scarves make pretty 'wrapping paper' and an extra present
