A question about : Online fundraising ideas for Macmillan

Hi everyone,

My wonderful mum (who's 250 miles away) is currently fundraising for Macmillan by doing car boot sales and selling old furniture and knickknacks from her house. She's raised Ј18 from selling bits of furniture, and I donated earlier. Naturally, I want to help her raise as much as she can for such a worthy cause.

A question about : Sponsor a Child

Not really money saving as I want to give some away.

I'm looking at the various charities that do 'sponsor a child'.

Does anyone know which is best, or have any tips?

I'm looking at the amount of money that actually gets to the area in need (varies from 75-85p in each pound so far - smaller charities it seems to be more so I guess the big ones aren't run so efficiently).

A question about : Pretty Muddy, Cancer Research

I'm doing my first ever charity event this Saturday with my daughter. We are both doing the Pretty Muddy 5k, in aid of Cancer Research .

A question about : Hair donation (some grey)

I have long hair (10 inches), which I want to have cut off.

I thought it would be a good idea to donate the hair to a charity so it can be used towards making wigs for those who need it.

Some of the websites I have been looking at are overseas or do not want hair with any grey (as they use for children).

Does anyone know where I can donate my hair to (phone number I could speak to someone).

A question about : Secretary, Chair and Treasurer

I would really be grateful for some advice from anyone here who is running or has knowledge of running a charity based on a Trust model.

I'm wondering if the Secretary, Chair and Treasurer also have to be Trustees by default, since they need to be present at each AGM?

Also, can a Director also be a Treasurer if there is nobody else who could adequately fill such a role, or would that be deemed unethical?
