  • do you live very far away from Ramsbottom? coz i used to do teh one there at teh railway startion every week, pitches are Ј6 and you get loads of space round your car for rails, two paste tables etc. and you always make loads coz theres nowt else going on in rammy on a sunday and also people come up from other places on teh steam train just to come to it.
  • found one in trafford park - not contacted anyone yet, waiting for good weather (!) before i sit in the cold for a morning:
Manchester Markets: Bowlers Car Boot Sales - Longbridge Road, Trafford Park, Manchester, M17 1SN, England
    Tel: +44 (0)161 794 5389
Manchester market open: Sunday - 06:00 to 15:00
  • Hi
Big one on a Sunday at Smithfield market in Openshaw, M11 people comes from miles around, being going for years.
    Hope this helps
  • The one at Bowlers is rubbish (in my opinion)!
It's full of businesses selling clothes, sportswear, jewellry etc.....There are usually only a couple of actual carbooters!
I tend to keep my eye in the local freepaper, they usually all start up around easter time, the best ones are usually church carboots, or hospital carboots, where there are hundreds of stalls.
    Happy Hunting!/ Selling!

  • Have a look in your free local paper, they usually advertise in there. If you haven't had one delivered, you can normally buy a copy from the local papershop. The one at Smithfield market used to be good I went a few years ago
  • Burnage rugby club is a good car boot and thats on all year just off Didsbury road. Plenty of people getting rid of there stuff, and not so many dealers
  • The Burnage one has been cancelled by the Council as people were abusing it & selling on the streets!! They are only allowed 14 a year now which is a shame.
I think the best one is due to start in a few weeks - Chelford Car Boot. Run by a local farmer it is massive in the summer - he has them in his fields and they are always advertised in the MEN.
Otherwise there is one at Carrington on a Wednesay & Sunday which is often good - depends who is there of course.
This weekend coming there is one at St Ambrose Boys School in Hale which is always a good one as far as I'm concerned as I have two boys!!
  • A good car boot is the one at Bowlee Community Park in Middleton. It starts again on the 21st May. It's all proper car boot stuff with no market traders selling new stuff.
  • Ashton-under-Lyne market is open to all those wanting to hold a stall to sell your unwanted items on most Sundays. You need to ring the market a week in advance to reserve your stall for the following Sunday, but its better than freezing in the open air.
  • There's one in Manchester Gorton, lots of real car booters and not traders.
  • Thanks for all the suggestions above - it seems a shame that there is nowhere on the web that you can get a list of all car boots in a particular area for free
  • I posed the same question a while back on the Debt Free Wannabe forum...this is what they came up with:

Am too waiting to see if the rugby club on Houghend playing fields is on again this year as it always looks packed!!
  • Hi All
Just to update on previous posts - SMITHFIELD is really a market - full of traders - usually one or two car booters only and it cost Ј26
BOWLERS - again traders and not worth the bother.
SALFORD MARKET - Ј20 a stall very very busy but have to be ther eat 5.30am as other stall holders hold stalls for regulars.
WYTHENSHAWE HOSPITAL - every bank holiday - very good
CHELFORD and STYAL the best car boots for miles
WARRINTON opposite B&Q - Fantastic every Sunday from 15th April
I live in Bolton now and there is a car boot here every sunday at the market - its very very popular at Ј12 plus down the road there is another but mainly traders.
Trouble is most Council run ones dont allow you to sell new stuff. I have loads of stuff to do a car boot after moving but my local BOLTON MARKET wont allow me to sell NEW - these are just things that have been bought in error or bargains lol
    Anyone know any others ?
  • hi there buile hill park will have a car boot every sunday for the next few months when ive been its really busy i think but dont quote me its 8 pound a pitch the park is not to far past hope hospital if u want to have a look they have a notice up near the entrance facing buile hill high school
