Pension for Short Term Contractor

A question about : Pension for Short Term Contractor

I have a potential employer, one I've worked with many times before who have the auto enrolment of the new pension scheme. Question is what if I'm not a permanent member of staff? I might be there a few months and then might be there again in the future. Other times I'll be with other companies.

Is it worth keeping opted in? What happens if I have 2 or more employer pension schemes? Does it go into 2 separate pots or the same pot? I have no clue about pensions.

retiring soon is it worth it

A question about : retiring soon is it worth it

Hello,I'm enquiring for a friend who is reting in 42 months time and is wondering if it is worth joining or opting out of the new scheme.
Also considering her pension pot, based on her calculations (her contributions, her employers and her tax relief etc) will be around 3-4k will she be given her contributions back in one lump sum as surely it would'nt be worth much as a monthly pension.
Her company information is limited so any help would be appreciated.
Thankyou all.

Is this a benefit?

A question about : Is this a benefit?

Hi there - I am going to a meeting and these new pension schemes are to be discussed and it looks like they will be sold to us as a benefit/perk. Possibly to cover over lack of pay rises etc......

In my mind it would only be a benefit if they were to contribute more than the minimum required otherwise we are the same as everyone else.

I dont no what pension type/options are out there for employers to choose from, so could someone please tell me what the minimum requirements are? From a contribution basis?

Age 58 receiving pension from previous employer

A question about : Age 58 receiving pension from previous employer

My husband was made redundant in 2009 (21 yrs with the company) which closed. He took a lump sum and monthly payment from the pension at 55 now being paid by Ppf. Unemployed for nearly 2yrs he was lucky to get job with current employer, pension payment of 6% of salary due to start October. Is it worth paying this for 8/9 years he has left til retirement. We currently try to save his pension payments at the moment. Does he have to join pension scheme when in receipt of pension already?

Auto enrolment, what funds?

A question about : Auto enrolment, what funds?

I'm wondering what provider other posters are going to be put with and what funds they intend to put their 1% + 1% into?
Is it better to go for low cost 0.51% trackers, or the higher more exotic funds?
