A question about : Anyone had problems with evan halshaw?

Hello
I purchased a car through evans halshaw last year, the car I liked wasn't at the branch I went to so they said evans halshaw in Scotland do and the salesman said they would be able to transfer it from one branch to another no problem.
I recently looked through all the charges that was on the paperwork and found that they had charged me 500 pounds to transfer it from Scotland to Hertfordshire without letting me know! Is this legal?
Anyone had the same thing happen to them?

Best answers:

  • You saw the invoice, you paid the price. What do you possibly think is illegal about that?
    Oh, and hello.
  • I would have thought they wont transfer cars from one end of the country to the other with some form of payment or order.
Are you sure there is no mention of this on your paperwork?
  • The charge was on the paperwork. I presume you had the opportunity to look through it prior to agreeing to purchase the vehicle. Therefore they did let you know.
Was the price you paid Ј500 more than the screen price to cover the delivery charge?
  • It may not be a bad deal. My uncle used to make a nice living buying cars in Scotland and shipping them south.
All that matters: Was the final price one you were happy to pay? Was it the price you agreed with them? They may have knocked Ј500 off somewhere else to compensate.
  • The Ј500 (and it doesn't cost anywhere near that much) might have been an internal (claimable expense) charge to mitigate the gross profit on the car, surprised it showed up your invoice though.
Presumably the price you paid was in line with other models in local stock, if it had previously come down with their normal weekly transporter loads and been priced normally for local sale you would have been none the wiser it had originated in Scotland.
  • Was it made clear on the invoice what you were being charged for? You can search online for the Motor Codes of Practice and Sales of Goods Act to see if they have broken the law or performed bad practice. EH don't like giving money back to customers!

Around a month or so ago I pointed out to EH that the above Saab 9-3x tdi was not 4wd.Saab never made a diesel 4wd model. They did respond tomy email. I see they still have it advertised as such; sloppy and misleading.
  • Not sure why on earth this would be illegal. Check your invoice.
