A question about : AIP Issues

Hi

Has anyone on here been called in for a brief to be told about the pay increment they put in was wrong someone down the line had made a mistake and in shouldn't of been accepted and now a load of personnel are having to repay back the money some its only Ј50 others its in the Ј1000's. Its not happened to me but it has to others in my work which in my eyes is not fair if the RAF have ballsed up it there fault I don't know how they can legally take that money back.

Was after advice of who to speak to, so i can pass it on to people i work with?

And is anyone else in the same boat?

From what i've heard the Army and Navy just took it straight off personnel and the RAF contested it.

Thank you

  • If you haven't already, have a look at the unofficial RAF rumour forum at https://www.e-goat.co.uk/ - some more or less helpful advice and suggestions about group actions (legal, not mutiny )
I'm an Auggie, so not directly affected, but good luck to your oppos!
  • The general principle is that if you've had taxpayers' money (so any public sector wage or allowance) to which you're not entitled, it has to be paid back - it being someone else's fault isn't counted as a reason to not pay it back. There's more info on the Treasury's pages and this is from the PCS (Civil Service Trade Union) open web page, on some other salary overpayments:
    https://www.pcs.org.uk/en/department_...nts-of-salary/
Any appeal/request to not pay it back needs to be backed by evidence of the defence being used.
It used to be different five or so years ago, when if it wasn't your fault and you couldn't be expected to know about it, you could keep the overpayment. It also used to hep if you'd already pent the overpayment, but that doesn't help now, either!
  • My first question would be..
"Why do i owe this amount?"
    Then take it from there.
  • for exactly the same reason that if you had been underpaid you would have been beating the door down to get the missing money
  • For those who know what is actually going on with this, all I can say is that it is an absolute scandal. Nothing less than a retrospective pay cut.
Some people 'owe' in excess of Ј10k and will have almost Ј400/month deducted form their pay for a significant amount of time.
OP, get on the Facebook group and/or e-goat.
